Admission Guidelines

1. A completed Riverside School Application form accompanied by a $100.00 fee ($50 for Application and $50 for Student Visit/Assessment.) This fee is non-refundable.

2. The Director and her Admissions Committee will review all applications. Riverside School's official policy is not to accept mentally challenged children or children with diagnosed emotional disorders. Riverside will accept learning disabled children without regard to race, creed, color, or national origin.

3. Office staff will contact prospective parents and arrange for an interview with the Director, Principal or designee. During this interview process, the parent(s) will be introduced to the school's philosophy, tour the school, and watch the Riverside School video.

4. Prospective students will be required to visit the school. Office staff will contact parents to assign a visitation date. Children may stay all day or leave at lunchtime. Children will be placed in a classroom to be observed by the classroom teacher, and meet with our Language Fundamental Coordinator or designee for further screening. Following the student's visit, parents will be contacted and the screening information will be shared.

5. After the parent interview, student visitation, and the child's recent educational and psychological test results are received, the Admissions Committee will reconvene and determine if Riverside is an appropriate placement for the child.

6. When the Riverside Admissionis Committee approves the child for placement at Riverside, the child's admission packet will be placed in the active files. Active files are reviewed annually and will be considered when openings occur. The parent(s) will be notified by a phone call when the child has been accepted. An acceptance letter will be sent out after verbal confirmation from the parent.

7. When a child is accepted at Riverside School, parents are required to sign a financial contract and propmpt payment of tuition and fees are expected.

8. Financial aid is available on a limited and confidential basis. Al aid is awarded on the basis of need. This need is determined by a completed parent's financial statement. Contact the business office to obtain a financial aid application. All financial assistance applications are due by July 15.

9. The Riverside Admissions Committee may, at its discretion, accept children on a conditional basis. Specific conditions will be discussed with parents and documented on the enrollment contract.

10. All parents of newly admitted students will be expected to attend a series of orientation sessions in the fall and spring.
